Petition to the Government of Canada

• The Islamic Republic of Iran is widely considered the world’s pre-eminent state sponsor of terrorism, responsible for mass violence through its support of multiple terrorist entities including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps–Quds Force, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Taliban;
• Iranian-sponsored terrorist groups have murdered and injured Canadian citizens, kidnapped, tortured and murdered foreign diplomats, and committed multiple assaults on foreign embassies;
• Iran has been designated by Canada as a foreign State Supporter of Terrorism;
• Terror victims and their supporters across Canada are seeking a clear commitment from the Government of Canada that Iran will remain listed as a state supporter of terrorism for as long as the Iranian regime continues to sponsor terrorism; and
• Delisting Iran as a State Supporter of Terrorism would be tantamount to a Canadian declaration that Iran no longer sponsors terrorism; would leave terror victims unable to hold Iran legally accountable in Canadian courts; and would confer legitimacy on a murderous theocracy which pours billions of dollars into terrorist activity.
