Petition to the Prime Minister
Whereas:
- The health of our Canadian citizens and residents remains at risk due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic;
- As part of a comprehensive strategy in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping the Canada-United States border closed will allow Canada to gain time to further implement effective preparedness measures and prevent a further strain on healthcare resources; and
- Despite a U.S. surge in coronavirus cases, President Trump recently vocalized his intention to abandon stringent public-health measures to combat and control the coronavirus outbreak by re-opening the country by mid-April.
We, the undersigned, citizens or residents of Canada, call upon the Prime Minister to protect the health of Canadians by keeping the Canada-United States border closed to prevent the risk of further transmission of the coronavirus into Canada.
