Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled

Whereas:
  • Canada has entered an agreement with the United Nations that all firearms imported into Canada are required to be marked with a unique identifier;
  • Current Canadian law does not require a serial number on newly imported firearms;
  • The current Firearms Marking Regulations do not satisfy the agreement for a unique identifier such as a serial number;
  • The Firearms Marking Regulations would degrade and devalue firearms; and
  • The Firearms Marking Regulations would hamper legal trade and cause hardship for licenced firearms businesses in Canada.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to cancel implementation of the current Firearms Marking Regulations and replace them with new regulations that require a serial number to be present on newly manufactured imported firearms.
