Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • The cigar industry does not target young consumers;
  • Artisanal cigar packaging is not designed to mislead consumers of the health hazards of using tobacco products;
  • Many small Canadian businesses that depend on premium cigar sales would be at risk of closing; and
  • Most European countries who have adopted Plain and Standardized Packaging have exempted cigars from their regulation such as the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Norway.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to exclude cigars from tobacco plain packaging legislation (Bill S-5).
