E-petition
Initiated by Brett Sunku from Vancouver, British Columbia

Original language of petition: English

Petition to the Minister of Health

Whereas:
  • Exempted Codeine Products cause more harm than good and must be better regulated;
  • The ability to purchase Exempted Codeine Products without physician oversight contributes to Canada's opiate problem; and
  • Codeine has serious safety concerns and pharmacists have proven unable to prevent its non-prescription misuse.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to Repeal Section 36 from the Narcotic Control Regulations of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, resulting in the requirement of a physician's prescription for release of any codeine product.
