Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled

Whereas:
  • Its economic prosperity makes Canada an important player in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • The government of Canada upholds humanist values; and
  • Credible international bodies have undertaken collective action to improve equity of access to scientific and vaccine information.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to:
1. Double the amounts announced but not yet spent for the COVAX program (from $51 million to $102 million) and make the payments immediately to maximize equal access to vaccination against COVID-19; and
2. Fund and participate in Verified, a program whose purpose is to make relevant scientific information available to disadvantaged populations with high vaccine hesitancy, in order to counteract the massive wave of disinformation that is spreading in many low-income countries.
