E-petition
Initiated by MARY JANE MACKINNON from Toney River, Nova Scotia

Original language of petition: English

Petition to the House of Commons

Whereas:
  • We strongly petition against the location of proposed dredge management site in our community;
  • We respectfully acknowledge the emails, phone calls and local petition made to Scott Burley and our member of Parliament;
  • We support our fishers and want a location found that supports the interests of all; and
  • We fear contamination of our drinking water, having rich farmland turned to wasteland, turning our community into a noxious eyesore, harm to our eagles and wildlife who feed at or near the river, detriment to boaters who sail the river, and of course devaluation of our land.
We, the undersigned, residents of Toney River, both full time, cottage residents and concerned citizens, call upon the House of Commons to find an alternate site for the treatment of dredge material.
