Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
- In our opinion, the Safe Third Country Agreement violates Canada’s international obligations to refugees under the 1951 Refugee Convention; and
- The Safe Third Country Agreement forces asylum seekers to make dehumanizing, irregular crossings.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada and Quebec, call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. End the Safe Third Country Agreement; and
2. Accept and process refugee claims made at regular crossings along the Canada-US border.
