Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
- A catastrophic explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, has occurred and so far caused at least 78 deaths and thousands of injuries;
- A great deal of the infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed in Beirut, medical centers are overwhelmed, and the costs of rebuilding will be severe; and
- This humanitarian crisis is compounded by the existing pandemic, economic hardship, and other aggravating factors in Lebanon.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to allocate a considerable amount of financial aid to help in the aftermath of the explosion in Lebanon and encourage other countries to do the same.
