Petition to the House of Commons

Whereas:
  • It is clear that responding effectively to the COVID-19 crisis was both difficult and challenging to do without leaving many Canadians vulnerable in terms of both health and financial security; and
  • Canadians both need and want to return to full social and economic activity in ways that are safe and equitable.
We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to:
1. Adopt measures that will ensure that we are better equipped to meet future pandemic crises, the looming climate crisis and other challenges we will inevitably face by making sure we rebuild a Canada that is more resilient, more sustainable and fair;
2. Create a national Pharmacare program;
3. Work with the provinces to bring long-term care into the public sector under the Canada Health Act;
4. Establish a national program to ensure all Canadians workers have 10 days paid sick leave and access to employment insurance; and
5. Establish federal employment standards that will ensure that all jobs in federal jurisdiction provide safe working conditions, a living wage, and secure retirement income.
