Petition to the House of Commons
Whereas:
- Federally, more needs to be done to accommodate post-consumer waste for second life cycle use for these materials: plastics, plastic packaging, Styrofoam, electronics, etc;
- Currently, Northern British Columbia has restrictions on what can be recycled due to location and demand for these materials, but the wildlife impacts and global environmental focus implore better solutions;
- The “throw-away” temperament cannot sustain, and incentives must be brought forward to promote second life cycle salvage efforts; and
- Incentives could range from monetary reimbursement for consumers to penalties for insubordinate manufacturers or the manufacturing processes.
We, the undersigned, residents of the Province of British Columbia, call upon the House of Commons to address the growing requirement for provisions of the recycling of different post-consumer materials, and prevent unnecessary waste going into local landfills.
