E-petition

Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • Society increasingly recognizes the harms caused by excessive alcohol consumption;
  • The sale of all alcohol products, particularly beverages with high sugar and alcohol content, must be better regulated;
  • More and more alcoholic beverages are being sold in non-reclosable cans that encourage rapid consumption of the product; and
  • Limiting sugar and alcohol content is not enough by itself to better limit consumption of these beverages;
We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to impose a new regulatory standard through Health Canada that requires all types of alcohol products in all categories that are sold in cans containing more than 500 mL and 7% alcohol to be reclosable. The health and safety of Canadians depends on it.
