e-1739 (Public transit)

E-petition
Initiated by Nicholas Thompson from Toronto, Ontario

Original language of petition: English

Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • Affordable public transit is essential to the livelihoods of many Canadians, especially those on low or fixed incomes like students and seniors;
  • Increased use of public transit reduces the number of cars on the roads, thereby reducing air pollution and traffic congestion; and
  • Fostering the regular use of public transit among youth will lead to its further use in the future.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to implement effective ways and means to promote and facilitate the use of public transit for Canadians under the age of 24, Canadians enrolled in post-secondary education, and Canadians above the age of 65.
