Petition to the Minister of Transport
Whereas:
- The Department of Transport has created legislation on the use of drones and model aircraft, stating that they are dangerous and that they pose a risk to people and buildings;
- Changes to the regulations governing model aircraft used for recreational and non-commercial purposes are being proposed; and
- The current regulation criminalizes model aircraft enthusiasts, as most models weigh less than two pounds and will cause no damage, even if they hit someone or something.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Minister of Transport to delete the current regulation, section 602.45 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR), which targets model aircraft and drones.
