Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
Whereas:
- Theft or mischief related to firefighting equipment can cause actual danger to life;
- The prohibitions and penalties in Criminal Code of Canada applicable to theft of firefighting equipment causing actual danger to life are inconsistent with the prohibitions and penalties of the Code applicable to mischief of firefighting equipment causing actual danger to life;
- The elimination of these inconsistencies would strengthen the Criminal Code; and
- Clear and stronger denunciation and deterrence in the Code applicable to theft or mischief of firefighting equipment that causes actual danger to life would benefit firefighters and the communities they help to protect.
We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to pass and implement bill C-365, an Act to amend the Criminal Code (Firefighting Equipment).
