  • The Pefferlaw Dam has cultural, historical, environmental, economic and recreational significance to the residents and visitors of Pefferlaw, Ontario.

We, the undersigned, residents of Pefferlaw and other concerned citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to partner with the Government of Ontario and provide the federal funding required to rehabilitate the Pefferlaw Dam.

Response by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities

Signed by (Minister or Parliamentary Secretary): Andy Fillmore

The Government of Canada is providing over $11.8 billion in federal funding for  infrastructure projects in Ontario under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). This funding will see the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario make unprecedented investments in public transit, green infrastructure, communities, recreational and cultural infrastructure, and in rural and northern communities.

Under the Integrated Bilateral Agreement struck to implement ICIP, proposed projects must first be prioritized by the Province of Ontario before they are submitted to Infrastructure Canada for funding consideration. Infrastructure Canada has not received an application from the Ontario for the rehabilitation of the Pefferlaw Dam, which may be eligible under the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of ICIP.

The rehabilitation of the Pefferlaw Dam may also be eligible under the federal Gas Tax Fund if the Town of Georgina, as the Ultimate Recipient under the program, chooses to apply its allocation to this project.
