Petition to the House of Commons
- Canadians rely on medical professionals for support and advice during some of the most difficult stages and circumstances of life;
- Canadians support protection for medical professionals to act in their patient's best interest;
- Fundamental freedoms guaranteed to all Canadians in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms include freedom of conscience and freedom of belief;
- In section 241.2(9) of the Criminal Code it states "For greater certainty, nothing in this section compels an individual to provide or assist in providing medical assistance in dying" yet there is no punishment outlined for someone that compels, intimidates, or coerces a medical practitioner to participate in medical aid in suicide; and
- Medical professionals in Canada are experiencing intimidation and coercion to participate in medical assisted suicide.
